William King

Dear Dad,

Thank you for being such a warm and compassionate person to everyone you cared for. As a husband, a father, and asocial worker for many children in the State of Illinois.

Your love of history provided your late-night reading materials, your love of volunteering at the genealogy department at the library, and taking us on vacations where we retraced the Civil War. (I didn’t appreciate it at the time, but I do now).

You lived with Alzheimer’s for 12 years – we all lived with Alzheimer’s for 12 years. It’s interesting because rather than forgetting a lot of things, you “remembered” things that never happened. You knew you had Alzheimer’s, but you were absolutely convinced of the non-existent events you were experiencing. At first, it was very frustrating but it quickly became a source of laughter and new “memories”. You just have to laugh!

Love you Dad!
